Meet our founder

My name is Michael Richards. I am a teacher currently still working in a state secondary school. I have been teaching for 14 years and know all too well how difficult the job is.

Have a read below about how The Attendance Workshop came to be.

Why does

The

Attendance Workshop Exist?

I created The Attendance Workshop because I am truly passionate about young people succeeding. School attendance nationally is at an all time low. Students need to be in front of their teachers to learn, in order to progress into the careers they want in life. Young people also need to be in school to socialise with peers, develop personally, improve their mental and physical health, and most importantly be safe.

During my time in education I've witnessed the pitfalls schools face with attendance. Engaging with parents, as well as students, is the key to improving attendance. All too often the relationships between schools and parents break down and children's attendance suffers. When parents are educated and empowered themselves, they can encourage their children to attend school and have a far greater impact than any school policy.

I also want to put schools and leaders at the forefront of what we do. I aim to empower professionals in education to work with us to improve the outcomes and lives of their students by increasing school attendance. I also want to help teachers interested in joining our team, so they can get paid to help students all over the country, creating a society and economy where more people succeed.
